COVID stats: two up, two down

CORONAVIRUS cases and deaths rose in Friday’s report from the Orange County Health Care Agency, but other metrics showed declines (Shutterstock).

Two of the four major metrics tracking the coronavirus pandemic in Orange County showed improvement Friday and the other two went … the other way.

According to the county health care agency, the number of hospitalizations due to the virus declined from 213 to 206. Additionally, patients being treated in intensive care units also decreased, going from 49 to 44.

On the other hand, confirmed new cases rose from 114 to 127. Deaths increased from 11 to 14.

The to-date total of confirmed cases is at 249,308, of which 240,681 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 4,536.

  • Santa Ana: 44,410 (796)
  • Anaheim: 41,314 (795)
  • Garden Grove: 16,345 (352)
  • Orange: 11,674 (234)
  • Fullerton: 11,163 (276)
  • Huntington Beach: 10,424 (201)
  • Irvine: 10,296 (79).

Westminster has had 7,042 cases and 180 deaths. Stanton has had 3,145 cases and 62 deaths.
