A shooter armed with an AR-15 style rifle walked into a supermarket in Colorado today (Monday) and fatally wounded 10 people, including the first police officer responding to the scene.

According to the Associated Press, police have a suspect – as yet unidentified – in custody.  The man entered the King Sooper store in Boulder, Colorado and began firing.

The officer killed in the rampage was Eric Talley, 51.

It was the second mass shooting in the U.S. in less than a week. On March 16 a gunman killed eight women – most of them of Asian decent – in three attacks on massage spas in the Atlanta area.

Boulder, population 106,000, is the home of the University of Colorado and is considered a quiet college town.
