Three area high school sports teams are ranked atop their divisions in this week’s CIF-SS rankings.
Santiago of Garden Grove is first in a girls’ basketball division, while Magnolia of Anaheim is the leader in a girls’ tennis division. Marina of Huntington Beach is atop a boys’ volleyball grouping.
Here are the polls as released on Monday. Listed are the top-ranked school/team in each division and those mentioned from The Tribune’s coverage area of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
- Division 2AA: Santa Margarita is number one. Edison is 13th
- Division 3A: Glendora is first. Marina is third
- Division 4AA: Poly/Pasadena is first. Santiago is fifth, Orangewood Academy is sixth, Huntington Beach is ninth
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
- Open Division: Huntington Beach, Orangewood Academy
- Division 1: Mater Dei is first, Orangewood Academy is fourth, Huntington Beach is 15th
- Division 4AA: Santiago is first, La Quinta is ninth
- Division 5AA: Linfield Christian is first, Ocean View is second
- Division 5A: Pacifica Christian is first, Los Amigos is 12th
BASEBALL
- Division 1: Ayala is first, Huntington Beach is 10th
- Division 2: Thousand Oaks is first, Ocean View is unranked but received some votes
- Division 5: Aquinas is first, Garden Grove is unranked but received some votes
SOFTBALL
- Division 1: Norco is first, Pacifica is second and Huntington Beach is third
- Division 5: Western Christian is first, Ocean View is sixth
- Division 6: St. Bonaventure is first, Garden Grove is eighth, Rancho Alamitos is 10th
BOYS’ TENNIS
- Division 3: Servite is first, Marina is fifth
GIRLS’ TENNIS
- Division 1: Peninsula is first, Huntington Beach is fourth
- Division 4: Magnolia is first
- Division 5: Northview is first, Ocean View is fourth, Rancho Alamitos is seventh
BOYS’ SOCCER
- Division 2: Valencia/Placentia is first, Santiago is third, Huntington Beach is fourth
GIRLS’ SOCCER
- Division 1: Harvard Westlake is first and Pacifica is eighth
- Division 2: Etiwanda is first. Marina is unranked but received votes
- Division 3: Coachella Valley is first. Santiago is unranked but received votes
- Division 6: Desert Mirage is first and Bolsa Grande is ninth
BOY’S VOLLEYBALL
- Divisions 1 and 2: Loyola is first and Huntington Beach is sixth
- Division 4: Marina is first and Garden Grove is unranked but received votes
- Division 5: ML King is first and Rancho Alamitos is 10th
- Division 6: Capistrano Valley Christian is first and Orange is sixth
And by the way …
The La Quinta softball team defeated Los Amigos 14-0. Ryann Nadeau and Thalina Niang each had three hits and a walk to lead the Aztecs. The blue and gold are 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the Garden Grove League.
