Statistics on the coronavirus in Orange County are continuing to bounce up and down but remain at low levels.
According to the county health care agency, there were declines in two major categories in Tuesday’s report, and increases in two others. Confirmed new cases rose from 19 on Monday to 31 on Tuesday. Deaths went from zero to five.
But hospitalizations declined from 64 to 54 and patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units went from eight to seven.
To date, the OC has had 255,504 cases, of which 249,407 are judged recovered. Deaths are at 5,088.
Nationally, The New York Times is estimating that – over a 14-day period – new cases have dropped 39 percent and deaths by 19 percent. In California, cases are down 9 percent and deaths stayed even, according to the Los Angeles Times.
