Monday’s count of confirmed new coronavirus cases in Orange County reached 112, but that’s not necessarily bad news. Since the county health care agency no longer posts numbers on weekends, that’s a three-day total.
Four deaths were from that period and hospitalizations from coronavirus are at 54. The number of persons being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units is at 14.
To date, cases in the OC have totaled 255,922, of which 249, 922 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 5,107.
Nationwide, The New York Times reports that cases are down 18 percent and deaths by 21 percent over a 14-day period.
In California, the Los Angeles Times estimates that cases are up 1 percent, while deaths have declined by 31 percent.
