A traffic collision Wednesday evening in Santa Ana sent one person to jail and another to a hospital in critical condition.
According the SAPD, the crash took place in the intersection of Corta Avenue and Edinger Avenue minutes before 9 p.m. in an incident involving a white van and a gray sport utility vehicle.
Santa Ana police officers and Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and OCFA paramedics began to treat both drivers.
They were taken to an area hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the SUV remains in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates the SUV was traveling west on Edinger Avenue approaching Corta Drive. The van was traveling west on Edinger, making a left turn onto Corta. As the van made its turn, it was struck by the SUV.
SAPD identified the driver of the van as Angel Rodriguez of Santa Ana. He was arrested for felony driving under the influence and transported to the Santa Ana Jail for booking.
SA man arrested on molestation charges
A 48-year-old man wanted in connection with two alleged sexual assaults of family members has been arrested.
According to the Santa Ana Police Department, Omar Ricardo Benson of Santa Ana was taken into custody on Monday. He is accused of molesting children ages 10 and 13. One of the victims told an older relative, who contacted police.
The suspect left the home before police arrived and a $1 million arrest warrant was issues for him. He is charged with oral copulations and lewd conduct with a child.
Police seize guns from arms peddler suspect
Gang detectives from the Santa Ana Police Department arrested a man accused of selling firearms to gang members and seized several weapons.
The SAPD reports that the suspect was held on several felony charges and taken to Santa Ana Jail after the police served a search warrant at his apartment in Orange.
Seized were three loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistols, one loaded AR-15 style rifle, several loaded magazines and several bags of ammunition. One of the handguns was reported stolen from Anaheim.
