A MAN was fatally struck by an automobile in Santa Ana Friday night (Shutterstock).

A pedestrian in the roadway of a Santa Ana street died after being struck by an automobile on Friday night.

According to the SAPD, the incident occurred at 1st Street and Standard Avenue a few minutes before 10 p.m. Arriving officers found the man lying in the street having suffered major injuries.

Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and pronounced the man deceased.

The investigation indicates that the man was in the roadway at 900 E. 1st Street when the vehicle traveling west on 1st Street hit him. The driver and vehicle remained at the scene. The driver was not believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The sobriety of the pedestrian “remains unknown” pending the release of the Orange County Coroner’s investigation.
