A man armed with a gun was fatally shot Saturday afternoon by Huntington Beach police.
According to Jennifer Carey, public information officer for the HBPD, the man – who was described initially only as “an adult Hispanic man” – was at Huntington City Beach at around 3:15 p.m. when the incident occurred.
He was in the sand, south of the pier, said Carey. The suspect was “non-compliant” with commands given to him and he was shot. After receiving treatment at the scene, he was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A gun was found at the scene.
As is the procedure with officer-involved shootings, Orange County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
