New cases of coronavirus in Orange County increased for the second consecutive day.
According to the county health care agency, the number of new cases went from 295 on Thursday to 314 on Friday. Deaths declined from 10 to eight and hospitalizations went from 196 to 194.
The number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units ticked up from 59 to 60.
To date, Orange County has had 316,384 cases of coronavirus, of which 304,018 are considered recovered. The total of deaths is at 5,814.
Nationally, The New York Times is reporting that new cases – measured over a 14-day period – are up 30 percent and deaths by 18 percent. In California, cases are up 86 percent and deaths up 27 percent, according to Los Angeles Times, also over a two-week interval.
