A resolution asking the State of California to allow a medical exemption from the mandate that pupils enrolling in schools next fall be vaccinated against the coronavirus was approved Friday night by the Westminster School District Board of Trustees.

The vote was 5-0 and the resolution approved was revised from the original version. Those revisions were not available at our deadline.

Also at the meeting, the board selected Tina Gustin-Gurney to serve as president for 2022. David Johnson will be vice president and Frances Nguyen will be clerk.

Additionally, a tentative agreement between the district and the Westminster Teachers Association was approved on a 5-0 vote. That agreement calls for 1 percent increase on the salary schedule retroactive to July 1, 2020 and a 4.25 percent  increase on the salary schedule retroactive to July 1, 2021.

The next meeting of the WSD board is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2022.
