Frozen, refrigerated, and dry goods may escalate in price, a move the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education is set to discuss at Tuesday’s meeting.
On July 20, 2021, the Board accepted bids for the purchase of 718 items and distribution services from Gold Star Foods. The bid specifications contained a price escalation clause for price adjustments. Due to manufacturers’ cost increases, Gold Star Foods is now requesting a higher price on purchased items, effective Jan. 31, 2022.
In addition to those items, Papa Johns is requesting a 12.69 percent increase for fresh pizza due to labor and commodity costs.
The recommended course of action is that the GGUSD Board approve the increase in price from Gold Star Foods for Request for Proposal Bid No. 2011 as well as Papa Johns for Bid No. 2012.
Also on the agenda is the ratification of contracts for public works and maintenance projects.
The next board meeting is set for Tuesday, March 1. The GGUSD is a K-12 district serving most of Garden Grove and portions of Anaheim, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
