New cases continue to slide

For the fourth consecutive day, confirmed new cases of coronavirus in Orange County have declined.

According to the county health care agency, new cases were at 111 in Wednesday’s report. That’s down from 121 on Tuesday and the three-day average of 314.3.

Hospitalizations dropped from 125 to 123.

However, deaths rose from three to 10 and the number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units rose from 25 to 26.

To date, Orange County has had 546,019 cases of coronavirus, of which 535,056 are considered recovered. The death toll is now at 6,816.

Nationally, new cases are down by 26 percent and deaths by 30 percent over a 14-day period, according to The New York Times. In California, new cases have fallen by 22 percent and deaths by 38 percent, reports Los Angeles Times.
