Los Amigos High’s baseball team untied the knot at the top of the Garden Grove League race with a 3-2 win over Santiago Friday afternoon at the Lobo diamond.
The win improved LAHS’ overall record to 17-3 and 8-3 in GGL play. The Cavaliers go to 9-10 and 7-4 and dropped into a tie for second place with Loara (8-7, 7-4), which defeated Bolsa Grande (10-11, 6-5) by the score of 5-3.
Pacifica climbed back into the Empire League race with a 4-1 win over Tustin. The M’s are now 14-7 overall and 2-2 in EL play, tied with Tustin for third. Johnny Morales pitched seven strong innings for the Mariners, giving up four hits and walking two while striking out five batters.
In the National High School Invitational in Cary, North Carolina, Huntington Beach lost its semifinal round game 1-0 to St. Johns Country Day School of Nevada. Orange Lutheran also fell, losing 11-0 to Stoneman Douglas of Florida.
