After a long standoff Monday morning in the Huntington Beach Civic Center, a man described as “a potentially armed suicidal individual” surrendered to police without incident.
According to HBPD, the surrender took place at 11:25 a.m., lifting a lockdown at the City Hall and the police department headquarters.
The civic center is located at 2000 Main St., at Yorktown Avenue, right across the street from Huntington Beach High School. The Oiler campus was also on lockdown until 10 a.m. when the person was “isolated” to an unspecified area.
The lockdowns began around 9 a.m.
