Controversy continues to swirl around the law enforcement response to the fatal shooting of 21 people at a school in Uvalde, Texas.
But Arreondo on Wednesday told CNN that he was in regular communication with DPS investigators.
He is under criticism from some who blame him for the slow reaction to the May 24 massacre in which it took 78 minutes for officers to break into the classroom, at which time all the children and teachers were dead.

Sports: No good news for local fans
The Angels and Dodgers are both in a bit of a tailspin, the former more than the latter. The Blue Crew suffered its third straight loss on Wednesday on the road in Pittsburgh, losing 8-4 to the Pirates.
One consolation for Dodger fans is that Trea Turner extended his hitting streak to 24 games. The loss drops LAD’s record to 33-17, still leading the National League West by 3.5 games as the second place San Diego Padres also lost, falling 5-2 to the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Angels, who are on a six-game skid, had their scheduled game against the New York Yankees in New York postponed due to weather conditions. To make up for that, the Angels (27-23) and Yanks (34-15) will play a split doubleheader Thursday with one game at 10:15 a.m. and another at 4:05 p.m. Pacific time.
Weather: Mostly pleasant outdoors
