Increases in all four major metrics tracking the coronavirus in Orange County were reported of Friday, including a sharp rise in deaths.
According to the county health care agency, new cases in the period of June 7-9 were at 3,215, a daily average of 1,076.6. That’s up from the previous average of 1,052 on Tuesday and 1,030 a week ago.
Deaths rose from zero to 28 and hospitalizations went from 158 to 188. The use of intensive care units for COVID-19 patients edged up from 18 to 20.
To date, the number of confirmed cases in Orange County is at 582,507, of which 553,672 are considered recovered. The death total is at 7,068.
Across the nation, The New York Times is reporting that – across a 14-day period – new cases are flat. Hospitalizations have risen 11 percent, down deaths are down 4 percent.
In California, new cases are up 7 percent, according to Los Angeles Times, and deaths down by 17 percent.
