Oil prices are down, down but why?

Increases in domestic oil production, along with slowing in the Chinese economy and other factors are credited with falling gasoline prices across the U.S.

According to The New York Times, the price of a gallon of regular gas has fallen for nine consecutive weeks to less than $4 nationally, although prices are generally higher in California.

However, experts note that unexpected events – such as weather that slows or blocks the pumping, refining and shipping of petroleum – could send prices higher again.
