The City of Westminster has released its draft Westminster Mall Specific Plan for public review. The specific plan, which includes a draft environmental impact report, is available for initial review and input through Oct. 3, 2022.
The Westminster Mall Specific Plan provides a blueprint for the redevelopment of the mall area, which includes components for retail, housing, and open park space.
“This is a monumental step in moving forward with the community’s vision for this area. It’s important to note that this is a program-based specific plan, and not project-based. While we have a very engaged team of mall owners, there is not currently a project submitted for the revitalization of Westminster Mall,” said Assistant City Manager Adolfo Ozaeta.
A community open house about the specific plan is scheduled for September 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Services building at the Westminster Civic Center. City staff and consultants will be at the meeting to provide an overview of the Westminster Mall Specific Plan and its main objectives, and answer any questions related to the specific plan process. Vietnamese and Spanish interpreters will be available, and there will be activities for kids.
Visit WMSPOpenHouse.eventbrite.com to RSVP for the free community open house. Westminster Civic Center is located at 8200 Westminster Blvd., Westminster. Free parking is available for the meeting in the lot at the corner of All American Way and Westminster Blvd. The event will also be broadcast live on the city’s YouTube channel. Questions from YouTube viewers will not be addressed during the event, but may be submitted prior to the meeting via email at WestminsterMallDEIR@westminster-ca.gov.
