$11.55 mill more for Nav Ctr.

An agreement with the County of Orange that will bring $11.55 million in funding for the Central Cities Navigation Center for the unsheltered was approved by the Garden Grove City Council Tuesday night.

The council voted 7-0 for the pact to help fund the establishment and operation of the facility, to be located in Garden Grove and jointly operated with Fountain Valley and Westminster.

In addition to providing shelter for homeless persons, the center will also provide drug counseling, mental health and employment services.

Also Tuesday night, the council approved a final tract map for the second phase of a residential development at the northwest corner of Garden Grove Boulevard and Brookhurst Street.

City Manager Scott Stiles told the council that Police Chief Tom DaRe would be retiring from that post effective Dec. 31.  He started in the most in 2019.
