New council to be sworn in

The swearing in of four new members will highlight Tuesday’s meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council.

Oaths of office will be administered to Pat Burns, Tony Strickland, Gracey Van Der Mark and Casey McKeon. The four ran as a slate under the “Save Huntington Beach” name. Tuesday’s meeting will be a real “changing of the guard” as Mayor Barbara Delgleize and councilmembers Mike Posey, Kim Carr and Erik Peterson complete their terms. 

Also sworn in will be Michael Gates. who was re-elected to the city attorney post.

The “new” council will then select a new mayor and mayor pro tempore (vice mayor).

The council will meet at 6 p.m. in its chambers in the Civic Center at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue). The next regularly scheduled meeting is set for Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 4 p.m.
