The once-defeated Russian drive to capture the Ukrainian capitol of Kyiv might be renewed.
According to United Press International, Gen. Valeriy Zaluzhny – head the Ukraine’s military forces – warned that Russia was massing 200,000 “fresh troops” for a second push against Kyiv.
British sources expressed skepticism about Russia’s ability to mount a major attack, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that “The next six months will be decisive” and demand “even greater efforts.”
Heavy sentences in kidnap plot
Three members of a plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer were hit with tough prison sentences by a judge on Wednesday, according to The New York Times.
Joe Morrison, Pete Musico and Paul Bellar were found guilty of a charge of providing material support for a terarorist act and received sentences to 12, 10 and seven years. Another suspect, Adam Fox, faces a life sentence in federal prison.

Sports: New NCAA president chosen
The new president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association will be Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker,
A moderate Republican, Baker has no experience in college sports, but was sought for his success in finding bipartisan agreement in a heavily Democratic state, according to the Associated Press.
The NCAA is facing major challenges from conferences and new state laws affecting athletes.

The forecast for Friday is a daytime high of 71, with an overnight low of 44 under mostly sunny skies. On Saturday, the daytime low will drop to 66 (43 overnight) with mostly cloudy skies. Sunday and Monday will be similar at 66 and 65 during the day with sunny or mostly sunny skies.
