Seven are shot dead in NorCal

SEVEN people have been fatally shot in a mass shooting in the Half Moon Bay area in San Mateo County (Shutterstock).

The second mass shooting in two days took place in the Northern California community of Half Moon Bay today.

According to the Los Angeles Times. at least seven people were killed in two shootings. A suspect, a 67-year-old man, has been arrested. He has been identified as Zhao Chunli.

Four victims were found shot to death on Cabrillo Highway and there fatalities a short distance away, The suspect was found seated in his car outside a San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department substation.

The death toll in the mass shooting in Monterey Park on Sunday rose to 11 on Monday as one of the 10 people shot the day before died from gunshot wounds.

Four are convicted of sedition

A jury in Washington, D.C. on Monday found four members of the far-right Oath Keepers group guilty of seditious conspiracy for their role in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

According to The New York Times, they were also found guilty of two separate conspiracy charges.

The group’s leader – Stewart Rhodes – was convicted of the same charge in November and will be sentenced in April. He faces a potential sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

Also in the news … A change in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration policy on COVID-19 will mean a vaccine injection each fall instead of several injections, according to United Press International.

Sports:  Moreno will stick with Angels

They’re not for sale. Arte Moreno, owner of the Los Angeles Angels announced he was taking the team off the market, according to the Associated Press.

Moreno had declared his interest in selling the team in August 2022, and several prospective buyers expressed interest. He has owned the Angels since 2003 and it had initially enjoyed a stretch of five division titles in seven years, but have posted seven losing seasons in a row.

Weather: Sunny and warmer

The sunny weather that began on Monday will continue in the West Orange County area, getting a bit warmer as we approach mid-week. The daytime high on Tuesday should be 66, with an overnight low of 41. The daytime temperature will rise to 70 on Wednesday and Thursday.
