Three locals in soccer finals

All three local girls’ high school soccer teams competing in CIF-SS semifinals won on Friday and two of them will face off in the  championship finals.

In Division 3, Marina defeated Bishop Amat 2-0. The Vikings, now 11-5-6, will play the Moorpark Musketeers on Friday, Feb. 24.

In Division 7, local teams each won their semifinal games and will meet in the championship finals on Feb. 24. La Quinta (16-6-5) defeated Samueli Academy 1-0 while Magnolia (16-9-1) bested St. Mary’s Academy by a 1-0 score.

As soccer winds down, spring sports  are starting up.

On Friday, in baseball Sonora defeated Loara 7-1 and Orange beat Anaheim 9-4. Also, Westminster defeated cross-town rival La Quinta 10-2. In softball, Loara edged Santa Ana 8-7 and Oxford Academy defeated La Quinta 5-4.
