4 dead, 28 hurt in Alabama

FOUR PEOPLE were fatally shot at a birthday party in Daleville, Alabama on Sunday (Shutterstock).

The mass shootings that have plagued America for the past several years continued on Sunday when four people were killed and 28 wounded at a teenagers’ birthday party in Daleville,  Alabama.

According to the  Associated Press, the incident broke out at a dance studio in downtown Daleville, a city of 3,200 people.

No one is in custody and police would not say if they had a suspect. Authorities asked the public to help in the investigation.

The names of the dead were not revealed.

Dominion-Fox trial start delayed a day

A Delaware judge on Sunday delayed start of Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News until Tuesday.

The trial had been scheduled to start on Monday.

Dominion claims it was defamed by repeated false allegations by Fox News that the company participated in rigging the 2020 election against then-president Donald Trump, resulting in the election of Joe Biden as president.

Sports: Halos drop 3rd straight; Dodgers fall

The Los Angeles Angels lost their third straight game on Sunday, falling 2-1 to the Boston Red Sox in Beantown. A third inning home run by former Dodger Justin Turner was the difference as the Halos’ record fell to 7-8. They’re in a tie with the Houston Astros for fourth in the AL West.

Reid Detmers (0-1) pitched well for the Angels, yielding just six hits and two runs over 6.1 innings. He struck out seven and walked one. New to the lineup is Zach Neto, who debuted at shortstop. He went 0-for-4.

The Angels will wrap up the four-game series with the Red Sox on Monday with a 8:10 a.m. game with Shohei Ohtani  (2-0) making the start for the Halos.

The Los Angeles Dodgers fell out of first place in the National League West with a 3-2 loss at home to the Chicago Cubs. Now 8-8, the Blue Crew is in second, a game behind the Arizona Diamondbacks (9-7).

Two solo home runs – one by former Dodger Cody Bellinger –in the sixth inning were the difference. For LA, Chris Taylor homered and Mookie Betts was 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.

The Dodgers will begin a series with the New York Mets on Monday.

Sports: Lakers upset the Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Lakers proved they belonged in the NBA playoffs with a 128-112 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday in the first game of their Western Conference series.

Rui Hachimura scored 29 points to lead the Lake Show, followed by Austin Reaves with 23 and Anthony Davis with 22 and LeBron James with 21.

The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Phoenix Suns 115-110 in Arizona. Kawhi Leonard scored 38 for the winners, followed by Eric Gordon with 19.

The forecast for the West Orange County area for Monday is for partly cloudy skies with a daytime high of 68 and an overnight low of 55. Tuesday should see mostly sunny skies with a high of 68 (51). Wednesday is expected to usher in three days of sun, with highs climbing from 70 to 82 and lows from 52 to 59.
