The Pacifica High School softball team won its eighth CIF-SS title on Friday, defeating Norco High 15-9 at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine for the Division 1 crown.

Juniors Annika Sogsti and Delaina Maae were key parts of the Mariner 14-hit evening. Between the two of them. they had six hits and seven runs batted in.

Another junior, Brynne Nally pitched a complete game for the M’s.

The Mariners, coached by Tony Arduino, won their last seven games and finished 23-8 after taking second in the Empire League.

And it’s probably not over. The M’s have six juniors on their varsity roster, five sophomores and three frosh.
