Trump arraignment on Tuesday

FORMER president Donald Trump is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday (Shutterstock).

Former president Donald Trump is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at noon (Pacific time) in federal court in Miami to face a 37-count indictment regarding alleged mishandling of classified government documents.

According to United Press International, city officials are preparing for traffic problems around the courthouse as well as the possibility of violence  by supporters of Trump. The former president has denied the charges, which he claims are a result of the “weaponization of the Justice Department” for political reasons.

Some streets will be closed and police say they are  ready to handle crowds from 5,000 to 50,000 people but Mayor Frances Suarez said she does not expect any major challenges in managing the planned protests.

Criminal charges for Hunter Biden?

USA Today is reporting that federal authorities are considering whether to charge Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden with tax crimes and making a false statement about a gun purchase.

It’s been widely reported that Hunter Biden has had a drug addiction problem that may have played a role in any criminal a criminal activities with which he may have been involved.

Also in the news … Two active duty Marines pleaded guilty Monday to misdemeanor charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Sports: Angels rein in Rangers

In the opener of a key series in Arlington, the Los Angeles Angels scored four runs in the top of the 12th inning to defeat the AL West-leading Texas Rangers 9-6 on Monday night.

Shohei Ohtani hit two home runs – one in the seventh and another in the 12th – to drive in four of the Halo runs. Mike Trout had a good night, too, going 1-for-3 and drawing three walks. He scored two runs.

With the victory, the Angels are 37-31. They are in third place in the division, 5.5 games out of first and one game back of the second place Houston Astros as well as a wild card slot.

The two teams will meet again on Tuesday with Jaime Barria (2-2) making the start for the Angels.

Also … Nikola Jokic scored 28 points and grabbed 16 rebounds Tuesday night as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat 94-89 and won their first National Basketball Association title, prevailing four games to one.

Weather: Warming up a bit

Summer-like temperatures are returning to our West Orange County weather this week and next. The forecast for Tuesday is for partly cloudy skies with a daytime high of 72 with an overnight low of 60. Wednesday will be similar with a high of 71 (62). Thursday should bring morning clouds and afternoon sun with a high of 72 and a low of 60.
