Sunday Major League Baseball action saw the Kansas City Royals defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-1 at Kauffman Stadium. The Los Angeles Angels hosted the Arizona Diamondbacks, winning 5-2.

Tony Gonsolin (4-3) had a rough fourth inning that led to the Dodger loss. He lasted 3.2 innings, giving up six hits and four earned runs, striking out three batters and walking three.

The Dodgers, having lost two the Royals after winning twice, are 46-37, tied with the San Francisco Giants for second place in the National League West.

In Anaheim, the Angels snapped a four-game losing streak with three home runs: Mike Trout’s 18th, Shohei Ohtani’s 31st and Mickey Moniak’s ninth.

Ohtani’s MLB-leading shot travels 454 feet and Moniak’s homer was worth three runs. The win improved the Angels’ record to 45-51, good for third place in the American League West.

Reid Detmers (2-5) got the win, lasting six innings and giving up just three runs and two earned runs. He struck out nine batters and walked two.
