OCFA, GGPD rescue family

GGPD AND OCFA rescued a family and saved their home from a fire Thursday morning in Garden Grove (OCFA photo).

A Garden Grove family was rescued from a fire in their home on Thursday morning.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, a backyard patio fire at their home in the 12600 block of Groveview Street (southeast of Lampson Avenue and Brookhurst Street) was reported by them at 6:33 a.m.

The residents told the dispatcher they were trapped inside the building and trying to get one of their disabled family members out of the house.

Garden Grove police officers arrived, forced their way into the home and rescued the residents out the front as firefighters arrived.

OCFA crews quickly knocked down the fire which had already spread to the exterior of the house and were able to save the home.

One resident was taken to the hospital with complaints of smoke inhalation There were no firefighter injuries.
