“Clean-up” items to council

Several items dealing with “cleaning up” the city will be considered at Tuesday’s meeting of the Stanton City Council.

The council will consider the second and final approval of an ordinance regarding prohibited activities on street median and in drive-throughs.

Problems with the unhoused and others using medians to solicit contributions and sell items have posed health and traffic issues, and some business drive-throughs have been used as temporary shelters.

The council will hear a report from Public Safety Director Jim Wren on the city’s efforts to mitigate the theft of catalytic converter pollution control devices from automobiles.

Because such devices contain expensive “precious metals,” they represent an attractive target to thieves.

Also, the council will receive an update on the city’s efforts to deal with lost, stolen or abandoned shopping and laundry carts.

The council will meet in the Civic Center, 7800 Katella Ave. at 6 p.m.
