Firefighters used 400 feet of hose to reach and extinguish a fire in a second-story apartment on Thursday morning in Garden Grove.
The blaze was reported in the 12100 block of Chapman Avenue (east of West Street) at 3:51 a.m. Residents had evacuated and called 911.
Orange County Fire Authority personnel were able to knock it down within 10 minutes, confining it to a single unit.
That action saved the rest of the building and allowed the other residents to stay in their apartments.
There were no injuries and the cause is under investigation. Garden Grove Police and Anaheim Fire assisted in the operation.
