The long-sought deal to bring money into city coffers through an arrangement to lease city-owned land for the establishment of digital billboards along the San Diego (405) Freeway in Westminster tops the agenda of the Wednesday’s city council meeting.
To be considered are lease and operating agreements with Branded Cities for two sites: Edinger Avenue and Beach Boulevard and “old” Edwards Street. The deal is for 30 years and is expected to bring in $63 million to the city in that period with an annual guarantee of $825,000 from the sale of advertising space on the billboards initially.
Also on the agenda is the selection of a vice mayor and consideration of labor agreements with several employee groups, including the Westminster Police Officers Association and the Municipal Employees Association.
The open session of the meeting is at 6 p.m. in the council chambers, 8200 Westminster Blvd.
