Cease-fire talks continue

Negotiations between Egyptian officials and Hamas leadership continued on Wednesday work to try to come up with the terms of a possible truce in the war in Gaza. At the same time, members of the United Nations Security Council are seeking to come up with a cease-fire resolution that wouldn’t be vetoed by the United States.

Each side is reportedly anxious about it’s own people. Israel worries about the fate of hostages taken by Hamas militants. Released hostages told of abuse and neglect by their captors.

Hamas leaders are concerned that continued conflict will add to the number of civilian casualties and the destruction of their cities.

Polls tight for 2024 presidential race

There’s good news and not-so-good news for each candidate in the polling for the 2024 presidential race.  The latest public opinion surveys – perhaps the last of the year – have some polls having closed in what was a growing gap between President Joe Biden, considered the likely Democratic candidate and former president Donald Trump, the favorite for the GOP nomination.

The NY Times/Siena poll showed Trump leading Biden 48 percent to 46 percent among all respondents, but with Biden ahead 46 to 44 among registered voters. The latest YouGov/Economist polls has each at 43 percent.
