
A POLICE pursuit that started in Garden Grove ended in Long Beach (Shutterstock).
A pursuit of a carjacking suspect that started in Garden Grove on Saturday evening on Beach Boulevard concluded less than an hour later in Long Beach.
Arrested was Jack Daniel Rios, 50 of Garden Grove, according to Sgt. Thi Huynh of the GGPD. The incident began around 4:59 p.m. and concluded at 5:37 p.m.
Police responded to a report of a carjacking in the 12000 block of Beach Blvd. (near Garden Grove Boulevard) involving a white “box” truck.
Shortly thereafter, officers spotted the truck nearby and a vehicle pursuit started. As the chase went on, the vehicle was involved with multiple collisions with uninvolved automobiles, as well as ramming a GGPD vehicle.
The chase ended in the 200 block of West Wardlow Road in Long Beach after another traffic collision. The suspect refused to comply with commands, according to police. “Less lethal” options were used with no effect.
A police K-9 dog was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody. He was taken to a hospital for medical attention, and the investigation is ongoing.
