A temporary moratorium on the establishment of any new tobacco retailer businesses and a temporary moratorium on the expansion, enlargement or alteration of any existing tobacco retailer business was approved by the Stanton City Council on Tuesday night.
The vote was 4-0 with Councilmember Donald Torres recusing himself.
Also Tuesday night, the council acted to reject the appeal of a planning commission resolution which revoked an earlier resolution that had approved operation of a motel at 11631 Beach Blvd., known as Dixie Orange County.
The vote was 3-0 with Councilmembers Carol Warren and Hong Alyce Van recusing themselves.
Additionally, the council discussed the creation of an ordinance allowing for the use of fireworks during cultural events along with a social host ordinance. City staff was directed to bring the item back at a future meeting.
