King Charles III of Great Britain is being treated for prostate cancer, raising interest in the order of succession to become the monarch of the nation.

Charles, 75, will suspend his public duties and appearances but won’t be delegating his role as head of state, although the real power lies with the elected government.

Next in line is Prince William, the Prince of Wales. He is the eldest son of Charles and the late Princess Diana. He is married to Kate, Princess of Wales. His three children follow him in the order of succession.

Next would be Prince George of Cambridge (born 2013), then Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, (2015) then Prince Louis of Cambridge (2018). Prince Harry, the younger son of Charles and Diana, is still in the line of succession.

States of Emergency declared

As the “Pineapple Express” continued to soak Southern California, warnings are being issued in some areas of Southern California.

Gov. Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency in eight Southern California counties, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino.

A local state of emergency has been declared in the City of Los Angeles. Coastal areas and low-lying regions are considered the areas most like to be subject to dangerous flooding.
Residents are advised to stay off the streets if possible and obey local evacuation orders.

Sports: Lakers, Clippers both post wins

The Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers each posted victories on the road Monday night. The Lakers defeated the Hornets in Charlotte 124-118 and the Clippers bested the Hawks in Atlanta 149-144 in a high-scoring affair.
The Laker relied on their big three – LeBron James, D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Davis – to build an early 14-point lead and held off a later charge. Russell scored 28 points while James and Davis each scored 26. Davis also had 15 rebounds and 11 assists.
Monday’s third win in a row improved the team’s record to 27-25, ninth in the NBA Western Conference.
Kawhi Leonard scored 36 points – including five-of-eight three-pointers to lead the Clips in scoring. James Harden added 30 points, including a four-point play in the closing minutes of the game. Additionally, he grabbed eight rebounds and had 10 assists.
The Clippers now have a four-game winning streak and are 34-15, third best in the NBA Western Conference.

Weather: Rain and then clouds

Rainfall is losing its grip on our West Orange County area … mostly. The forecast calls for Tuesday to get some rain and thunder. The daytime high should be 57 with an overnight low of 47. Wednesday and Thursday should be partly cloudy with a high of 60 and lows of 47 and 48. Showers will return on Friday morning with temps at 60 (43).
