Two measures involving moving around Garden Grove were approved at Tuesday’s meeting of the city council.

One was adoption of a resolution approving participation in a state program worth $441,000 for improving the Medal of Honor Bike and Pedestrian Trail that runs diagonally across the city from Brookhurst Street in the northeast to Nelson Street near the downtown area.

The improvements would include bike racks, benches, exercise equipment, trash cans, “litter abatement signage,” landscaping/mulch and more.

Also adopted was a resolution authorizing an application to apply for a grant from the Orange County Transit Authority for traffic circulators in Garden Grove. If the grant was approved it would create an on-demand service using electric vehicles intended to supplement existing public transit.

The grant, if approved, would be for $2.27 million over a seven-year period.
Both were approved on a 6-0 vote with Mayor Steve Jones absent.
