Boy arrested after allegedly shooting at police officers

A boy is in custody after allegedly firing shots at police officers in Anaheim.

According to the APD, the incident took place around 1:45 a.m. in the 300 block of W. Guinida, east of Palm Street and the Santa Ana (5) Freeway.

While in contact with some “subjects,” a suspect fired several shots at the officers, and then fled on foot. No one was hit by the gunshots and officers did not return fire.

More officers were summoned to help locate the suspect. After a search that lasted several hours, detectives spotted the suspect’s mother driving away from the area. They broadcast the information about the vehicle and deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department were able to locate and arrest the suspect in Mission Viejo.

The suspect was booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer and other offenses.
