The Los Angeles Angels rallied from a 5-1 deficit to tie the game against the Boston Red Sox at 6-6, but eventually lost 8-6 at Anaheim on Friday night.
Logan O’Hoppe’s grand slam in the sixth inning was key to the comeback, but it wasn’t enough as the Halos saw their four-game winning streak snapped. They fell to 4-3 and into second place in the AL West.
O’Hoppe had four RBIs and two runs scored. The catcher is batting .450, The first two Angel batters in the batting order were 1-for-8 with three strikeouts.
Also on Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers saw their four-game winning streak snapped, losing 9-7 to the Chicago Cubs in Wrigley Field.
Shohei Ohtani hit a two-run homer for the Blue Crew, but the Cubs rolled to their fifth consecutive win to improve to 5-2, good for third place in the NL East. The Dodgers are 7-3 and remain atop the NL West.
The Dodgers outhit the Cubs 12-9, but the home team broke open a 7-7 deadlock with two runs in the top of the seventh. The two teams play again on Saturday.
