Justin Reed, son of one of the six Garden Grove police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, will be the guest speaker at Thursday’s 37th annual “Call to Duty” Memorial.

The event will be held from 5-6 p.m. in front of the GGPD headquarters, 11301 Acacia Parkway.

Reed’s father – Donald – was fatally shot on June 7, 1980 when he and three other officers entered a bar to serve an arrest warrant.

The memorial will also feature a flag-folding ceremony, memorial bell ringing, a helicopter fly-over and musical selections by the Bolsa Grande High School choir.

Acacia Parkway will be closed in both directions from Euclid Street and 9th Street from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and also Civic Center from Garden Grove Boulevard to Acacia Parkway.
