After Monday’s rained-out game, the Los Angeles Dodgers poured it on Tuesday and snapped a five-game losing streak by sweeping both games of a double-header from the New York Mets.
In the first game, the Dodgers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to send the contest into extra innings, where the Blue Crew won the game 5-2 in the 10th.
Mookie Betts singled in the lead run, and Freddie Freeman brought him in with a home run.
In the second game, Gavin Stone (5-2) pitched a gem, working seven innings and yielding three hits, striking out seven batters and walking none. The Dodgers won 3-0.
The Dodgers got 10 hits, including home runs by Will Smith and Miguel Vargas. With the wins, the Dodgers are 35-22 and lead the National League West by six games over the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres.
Back in Anaheim, the Los Angeles Angels took on the New York Yankees and the home team rallied with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win 4-3.
Kevin Pillar gave the Halos an early 2-1 lead with a first inning home run, and Taylor Ward’s double in the eight drove in the tying and winning runs.
Starter Griffin Canning pitched five innings, giving up nine hits and three runs. But the five relievers were perfect over the last four innings, allowing no hits or walks. The win went to Matt Moore (1-1).
With the win, the Angels are 21-33, still in fifth and last place in the American League West, but have split their last 10 games 5-5.
