5 hurt, 1 arrested in hit-and-run

A 29-YEAR-OLD Santa Ana man was arrested in a run-and-run accident on Sunday (Shutterstock).

Five people were injured – three of them children – and a suspect arrested in a hit-and-run crash Monday night in Garden Grove.

According to Traffic Investigator of the GGPD, the incident took place around 7:35 p.m. in the 12300 block of Haster St. (north of Twintree Lane).

Two adults – a 27-year-old Garden Grove man and a 25-year-old Garden Grove woman – were towing trailers with black e-bikes when a 2023 black Toyota Camry struck them and spend  away.

A witness followed the suspect vehicle and told police about its location.

GGPD officers caught up with the vehicle with a traffic stop about 1.2 miles from the collision scene.  They arrested Ceferino Ramos, 19,  of Santa Ana.

Orange County Fire Authority units responded and all five persons struck by the Toyota – all family members, including two boys and one girl– were treated at the scene and hospitalized for further treatment. 

Three of the victims remain in critical condition. One was treated and released. Another remains in stable condition. The suspect did not sustain and injuries and was booked into Orange County Jail. Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a factor in the incident.
