Week Zero local high school football action started on Thursday and results included one close game and two blowouts.
Former Garden Grove League rivals Los Amigos and Santiago played a non-league game at Monsoor Stadium on the Garden Grove High School campus and prevailed 46-7.
The 2023 GGL co-champs (tied with Rancho Alamitos) jumped out to a 20-7 first quarter lead and went on to shut out the Cavaliers in the remaining three quarters.
Here are Thursday’s scores.
Godinez 10, Loara 3
Los Amigos 46, Santiago 7
Costa Mesa 35, Magnolia 0
And not exactly a local game, but of interest because the Monarchs are ranked number one in the nation:
Mater Dei 42, Centennial High of Corona 25.
