While the suspect in the shooting death of four people at a Georgia high school has been charged with murder, his father faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder and cruelty to children.
Colt Gray, 14, has been arrested for the fatal shootings at Apalachee High School near Atlanta and will be charged as an adult. He is alleged to have used a semi-automatic “assault-style” rifle to kill two students and two teachers and wound nine other people.
His father, Colin Gray, 64, is charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder as well as eight counts of cruelty to children.
Second-degree murder is punishable by a prison term of 10 to 30 years.
He faces those charges because he allegedly allowed his son to possess a weapon.
Colt Gray reportedly posted “a menacing post” on social media last year. He was not arrested for a lack of evidence. The youth reportedly was upset at his parents’ separation and was often “picked on” at school.
Hunter Biden pleads guilty on taxes
President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden pleaded guilty on Thursday to nine federal tax charges.
The 54-year-old Biden suffered from drug and alcohol addiction and is believed to have used his family name toward getting international consulting contracts. There’s no evidence that his father was in any way connected to his sons actions.
Hunter will face sentencing in mid-December; he’s free on bond in the interim. He faces a maximum sentence of 17 years in prison and a fine of up to $1.3 million on the tax charges.
In addition to failure to pay his taxes, Hunter was accused of being an addict in possession of a firearm, with a possible sentence of 25 years in a separate conviction.
President Biden has said he would not use his presidential authority to pardon his son.
