At least 40 people were killed in an Israeli missile strike Monday into an area in the Gaza Strip where displaced Palestinians were gathered.
According to the Associated Press, about 60 other people were wounded as well.
The Israeli government described the attack as hitting “significant Hamas terrorists who were operating a command and control center.”
Hamas issued a statement rebutting the Israeli claim. Video footage of the attacked area showed “deep craters” and “shredded tents.”
So far, over 40,000 Palestinians and 1,500 Israelis have died since the war began on Oct.7 of last year with Hamas’ raid into Israel.
