A man whose automobile plunged into the Talbert Marsh in Huntington Beach early Monday morning was rescued.
According to police, the vehicle went off the road around 8:15 a.m. near Pacific Coast Highway and Brookhurst Street. Arriving officers found the vehicle partially underwater and jumped into the water to start the rescue.
Minutes later, Huntington Beach Fire Department lifeguards went into the water and helped pull the driver to safety. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The HBFD’s Hazmat team also responded deploying booms to prevent further fuel contamination in the wetlands. An investigation is continuing into the incident.
