After a public hearing, the Garden Grove Planning Commission voted unanimously in favor Thursday of a site plan that clears the way for the construction of a 76-unit, four-residential apartment building on Haster Street.
The location is 12681 Haster St. between Lampson Avenue and Garden Grove Boulevard. That’s the site of Garden Park Care Center, built in 1962. It’s a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.
To the west of the site is the Haster Basin Recreation Area, formerly known as Twin Lakes Park.
The proposal is to split the lot into two parcels, keeping the care center on 2.2 acres, with 1.6 acres for the apartment complex.
Under the proposal, the development would include eight affordable housing units for “very low income” households.

Do you really really need more complex? Is Beach Boulevard has A bunch bunch of apartment complexes. I they should stop building so many everybody in there has a car a six bedroom has six cars come on what are you gonna put about six parking spaces in a hotel I don’t think so Think before you build ,,before you clean up Garden Grove it’s a filthy mess on the streets, useless cars parked in front yard trash all over the beach and brookhurst . What do you think of cleaning it up first before building more of a mess People in those houses I see exist they do not live
How much do you want to bet that the eight “low income” apartments will go to friends and family of the developer?
How really big of them to give a whole 8 low income units. We all know it’s a scam for tax cuts and board approval.
It makes me wonder who’s palms are being greased this time.
