It’s not officially winter, but “winter” sports such as basketball are in full swing for area high schools. The teams are involved in tournament and pre-league games and will be through the end of December, with league play starting in January.
Here’s a (very brief) look at how the local teams in our West Orange County area are doing so far. Records are through Thursday’s games.
The girls’ squads with the very best record are La Quinta (6-3), Bolsa Grande (4-2) and Los Amigos (4-2). In the next tier are Orange (3-2), Magnolia (3-3) and Huntington Beach (1-1).
The team with the most room to improve is Edison at 0-6.
Among the boys’ teams, the squad with the best record so far is Pacifica (6-2), followed by Magnolia (5-3), Santiago (5-3) and Los Amigos (5-3). Next is Garden Grove (5-4).
Looking forward to better days are Magnolia (0-2) and Bolsa Grande (1-5).
