MITCH OLSON, new FVHS head football coach.

Mitch Olson, a veteran area football coach and athletic director, has been hired to be the head football coach at Fountain Valley High School.

In his tenures at Loara High in Anaheim and Kennedy High in La Palma, his teams won one CIF-SS championship, made six CIF-SS semifinal appearances, 12 quarterfinal appearances, made the playoffs 18 times and won eight league titles.

“I’m really excited to be here and excited about the possibilities of what Fountain Valley High School has to offer,” according to Olson. “I can’t wait to work with the young men and do some good things on and off the field.”

The Barons have struggled in recent years. They posted a 1-9 record in 2024 and lost its rivalry game with Edison 49-6.

FVHS is a part of the Huntington Beach Union High School District.
