A pedestrian was fatally injured when struck by an automobile Sunday evening in Garden Grove.
According to police, the incident took place in the 10800 block of Chapman Avenue, between Nelson and Euclid streets.
The call about an accident involving a pedestrian and motor vehicle came in to police at around 6:20 p.m.
Arriving officers found the pedestrian “unresponsive.” Personnel from the Orange County Fire Authority assessed the man – described as 53-year-old Garden Grove resident – and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver of the motor vehicle, a juvenile, was behind the wheel of a blue 20024 Toyota 4Runner – remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Neither alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor in the incident.
