China halts critical exports
The export of “critical minerals and magnets” has been suspended by China, according to The New York Times.
Those items are considered crucial to the manufacture of automobiles, aerospace components, semiconductors (and computers).
This halt of exports is considered a feature of China’s retaliation to President Donald Trump’s increase in tariffs, some of which are higher for that nation than others.
Reportedly, shipments of those items were halted at the ports where there were planned for export.
The export ban is not permanent; the Chinese government is planning on the issuance of licenses.
